Entries for the 2019 Hindmarsh Shire Rainbow Desert Enduro are now open with the event to host the 2019 BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship's (AORC) season finale.
Considered one of the toughest events in Australia due its brutal conditions and unpredictable weather, the event is fast becoming a must for off roaders around the country as it continues to grow in popularity since its inception in 2017.
Competitors will be able to enter the round until 5pm AEST on Friday 29 July, with the event's early bird discount offer to close on 19 July.
During the two day event, AORC competitors will be tackling a mammoth 560 competitive kilometres across seven laps on the 75km course made up of dirt, mud, grass and desert.
The event will be conducted over two sections, with the two-lap first section to take place on the first day of action after Prologue as up to 150km is covered, while the second day will see crews undergo five laps totalling to 375km.
While the event will host the AORC final round, a local championships will also be running with the third round of the CAMS Victorian Off Road Championship and round eight of the Victorian Off Road Club Shield also taking place.
The event's hosts, Victorian Off Road Racing Association (VORRA), will also be having their own club competition, with VORRA Club Championship putting on its eighth round for 2019.
In 2017's inaugural event, AORC veteran Greg Gartner steered his Extreme 2WD to a thrilling victory ahead of Prolite Driver Chris Browning, handing the outright AORC championship to Matthew Martin, who finished the event in fourth.
Last year in a mixture of rain, hail and shine, Shannon Rentsch led from start to finish as he and co-driver Ian Rentsch picked up their ninth BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship.
Rentsch will this year have his work cut out to clinch a remarkable tenth title, with Mark Burrows trailing only 36 points behind the championship leader. Steven Graham, Josh Howells and Nick Jackson within the top five overall standings.
The Hindmarsh Shire Rainbow Desert Enduro will take place in the small rural Victorian town of Rainbow on 8-10 August.
