Motor Sport Environmental Strategy
CAMS has appointed Climate Ready Consulting as environmental consultants to provide strategic advice on the potential motor sport environmental issues that will need to be managed alongside the traditional commercial challenges.
Climate Ready Consulting will begin its work by conducting research to determine the key environmental issues that will most likely affect motor sport in Australia. The research will commence in March 2009 and cover several aspects in relation to motor sport including:
-
Management of key waste streams (including oil and tyre disposal);
-
Food, water and waste management at events;
-
Total energy usage at events;
-
Current practices for the promotion of vehicle innovation; and
-
The carbon footprint of the motor sport industry as a whole.
This research and consultation will provide the framework for a CAMS environmental strategy to be developed. This strategy will be formed in consultation with the CAMS Environmental Project Manager and will aim to manage the issues identified through the prior research and consultation.
The strategy will then be implemented for use across the organisation and at all CAMS-sanctioned events. It will provide national leadership to CAMS-affiliated clubs and strategic support to other governing bodies associated with motor sport.
